Abu Dhabi Airport's new Terminal A

Abu Dhabi Airport’s new Terminal A to open in November with “seamless, digitised journey from pre-travel to boarding”

Abu Dhabi Airports has announced the forthcoming opening of its state-of-the-art new terminal at Abu Dhabi International Airport. Known as Midfield Terminal Building during the construction phase, Terminal A – for which Kohn Pedersen Fox (KPF) was the architect – is scheduled to begin operations in early November 2023.

The access roads to Terminal A connecting the airport to the E10 motorway, the Terminal A arrival and departure curbs and the entrance to the parking garage as well as the Central Business District road infrastructure were designed by DHV as part of the Netherlands Airport Consultants (NACO) team, sub-consultant to KPF. It was a great pleasure for me to conduct the road design team, assigned for the schematic design and the design development stages. The general layout of the scheme was determined by our team during that period and the plan finally constructed is now ready to serve the public.

The exhibit below shows the E10 interchange with Terminal A access roads, the Central Business District and the Terminal A arrival and departure curbs as laid out in the general plan of the scheme.
